-->90 DAY MEN Too Late Or Too Dead +2 CD EP

Chicago's new toast of the town, 90 Day Men just continue to get better, cooler and weirder with each release. Where their previous album To: Everybody was moody, eerie and very cleverly composed, this new 3-song EP finds the band expanding on those concepts yet again… arty, yet dramatically compelling, somber, warm, spooky, inviting and parrying. The lead song “Too Late or Too Dead” is rooted upon guitarist/singer Brian Case's whispered vocal line intertwined with Andy Lansangan's beautifully played classical piano minuet. Rob Lowe's lightly-plucked and ominous bass line seeps through every nook and cranny while drummer Cayce Key chops and dices the waltz-time signature with a marching snare pattern that repeatedly reverses and reverts the beat. It's the subtle trickery and glissando sound of 90 Day Men that really shines. But as the band's last album and this teaser for its next album shows, the quintet still has countless great and innovative ideas up its sleeve… and the best is yet to come. [Southern]
