The Blackfire Revelation CD review [Fat Possum]

Oh snap, just when you thought the two-piece was played out along come John Fields and Hank Hanley who make up The Blackfire Revelation. Hell bent on smacking post-rock upside the head with their Southern Sabbath sludge, The Blackfire Revelation ain't for those that fancy their bands on the frail side. Not since the Man's Ruin catalog took a powder have I heard such a fine display of cock rock and I'm immediately hooked. In ode to all that's heavy and raw The Blackfire Revelation get down like a couple of juvenile delinquents weaned on Iomi and Crover. Produced by Jerry Teel (Honeymoon Killers) Gold and Guns on 51 features a pounding guest spot from Sean Yseult (White Zombie/Famous Monsters) on a cover of Blue Cheer's “Second Time Around.” The EP also features a Troggs' cover as well as three ball-busting originals. Signed to Fat Possum, The Blackfire Revelation recently wrapped-up a US tour with Unsane that proved to be a kick in the ass. Definitely worth your time to check out.
