G.G. ALLIN AND THE MURDER JUNKIES Savage South: Best of The 1992 Tour DVD G.G. ALLIN AND THE MURDER JUNKIES Terror In America DVD

By now you've surely made up your mind about the honorable Mr. Allin. You've either decided he's a king or a beast, a god or a chump, punk's ultimate role model or a scabby pariah who's better off dead. These DVDs—recorded in 1992 and 1993, respectively, book-ending a Michigan jail term—won't do anything to alter your views of the man and his band, so all we can do is tick off a tally of obscenities enacted on these tours. During these six gigs, G.G.:

• Bashes his brains to crimson pulp on walls, floors, tables, rafters and, of course, microphones. • Violently slashes chest and arms with broken bottles and beer-can shrapnel until he's a blur of gore and grime.                                                         • Flails and kicks at the crowd like a fat, piggish kindergartener attacking an inflatable clown punching bag. • Chomps and ingests pages from a torn-up Bible. • Head-butts and smears blood on a dime store painting of Jesus • Romantically croons (yeah, right) “I Wanna Rape You” to pierced-cooch super skank who's gyrating in drug-sick circles onstage. • Attempts to set audience members afire with lighter fluid. • Javelin-launches cymbal and mic stands into the mob. • Starts a floor-wide bar fight. • Etcetera.

What G.G. doesn't seem to do is cause much outrage. Most crowds seem to know what they're in for, and either revel in the carnage or simply wait for G.G. to come close enough for them to give our bloody hero a blindside shot to the dome. Ah, well. Such is life in the trenches. [Nine Winds/MVD]
