Awesome Color - Awesome Color

Bombastic supernova sounds come from this youthful Brooklyn by way of Ann Arbor trio that summon the sounds of dirty sixties Detroit. While many have lazily dismissed the band as some Mudhoney rip-off, it's far from the truth. Yeah, the band has that Stooges/Blue Cheer factor going on but their debut is far from the reaches of Seattle in terms of carrying the tag of the late eighties nod to all that was right with rock. These folks do it their way and it comes through as a propitious bow to the forefathers by taking on its own personality. A refreshing kick in the ass that reminds you that straight-ahead rock 'n' roll, in its most raw form, will always be in fashion when delivered well and Awesome Color fly the flag at full staff. There's no posturing or posing, it's greasy and scummy dropped by skate brats just barely out of high school just they way it should be. It's a booze fueled curfew break that speaks to those who don't subscribe to rules and regulations. This is a soundtrack for the disenfranchised to which we all subscribe. [Ecstatic Peace]
