The latest hype out of Brooklyn comes in the form of Parquet Courts, a bunch of marijuana loving Texas carpetbaggers who have a fondness for witty songs and The Modern Lovers. Each member has done time in one thing or another but it’s singer Andrew Savage who racked up plenty of praise for his Fergus & Geronimo project. Unfortunately, F&G seems to have taken a backseat to Parquet Courts and could be possibly put to bed forever based on comments from the band regarding how serious they are about getting this project firing on all cylinders. If they continue to write irresistibly catchy songs like “Borrowed Time” and “Stoned and Starvin,’” they should have no problem sticking around for a while. What’s Your Rupture? has signed the band and plans to reissue Light Up Gold while Parquet Courts has embarked on its first US tour to help get word out. It’s a kickoff to 2013 that should find the band on many people’s lips by the time they make their way home. [Dull Tools]
