The order of which you listed these events make me wonder if you read this book at all. The book begins with the narrator hopping a train yet you say that didn’t happen until later? pretty unreliable review if you ask me.

Thanks for reviewing this – would’ve totally flown under my radar otherwise! I’ve pretty much given up on Pfork’s “rock” coverage. They consistently laud awful wink wink hipster sh*t & wrinkle their collective noses at the good stuff. Who the heck is their audience?

C. There is nothing in this review that you, in an admirably self-deprecating fashion, don’t at least infer in the book. And I likewise note your humbly documented, inspiring turnaround as a man.
D. I stand by my points, each and every one. The entertainment world knows you best for your legacy as a Dead Boy. Nothing wrong with that. Hardcore, btw, was shaped by you.
E. Fuck yes, I want to see a copy of that contract. Please send via PDF and let’s post it. What a terrific triumph – taking 100 large from the suits.

Dear Mr.Miller -
I have no problem with a bad review of my book, especially when there have been so few of them. But when you begin a review of a book by mentioning the author’s ” many identities” and the first three are “a dumbass, a loser, a hooligan” , I’d say your objectivity is pretty suspect at best. When you end the review with:
“But even today he suffers from a common malady as toxic as any drug: Too much information, obviously born of the Facebook world we live in, where everything someone does is somehow important. Chrome lived a life like any other garden-variety delinquent until the Dead Boys. It is that brush with fame that gives him his identity, although he doesn’t seem to realize that.After the Dead Boys, he inexplicably cruises on his legend with a batch of obviously deluded “fans,” who no doubt love to watch human cartoons. Chrome is a strong guy, as this book testifies. But damn, is he goofy.”, it becomes pretty clear you aren’t writing an objective review,you just have a problem with me. Spice that with lines like “Chrome makes the dubious claim that the band got a $100,000 advance and tour support—but we can let that slide.”….hmmm…seems like you’re just calling me a liar before you check yer facts, don’t it?
A)Wanna see the contract,motherfucker? Because you can, if you want. It exists.We weren’t some shit hardcore band. and
B)” we can let that slide.” ???
Who the hell are you that I need you to let anything I do slide?
Apparently, cruising on my legend includes all of my work with Jeff Dahl and Texas Terri,Road Vultures,Todd Tamanend Clark as well as my reformimg, recording and touring with Rocket From The Tombs since 2003, recording and touring with the Batusis w/ Sylvain Sylvain since 2009, and having new releases and tours from both bands later this year after finishing a very successful book tour. I’d say that’s having my ass in the grass working.I could use some cruising.
Sorry if my “brush with fame” bored you;but people are still playing my records and coming to my shows 30 years later,bands like Guns ‘n Roses and Pearl Jam are recording my songs, the Dead Boys themselves are in several current movie soundtracks…I’m good with that.
Mike Hudson had some similar encounters with Tesco I hear; apparently you hardcore kids have some issues with us old punks.Oh well. Maybe at least include a disclaimer next time? CC
